You may have noticed I have decided that the short-term goal of my retirement years is to force the retirement of the three longest-serving justices of the US Supreme Court:: Justices Thomas, Alito, and Roberts. That, and watching the Celtics win the NBA championship. I realize that the odds of the Celtics winning are much more favorable than my accomplishing the other goal, but to quote Nelson Mandela
“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
As part of my method to reach my goal I am trying to enlist everyone to send a postcard or letter to Chief Justice JohnRoberts, expressing that we feel the court, instead of being the major safeguard of the Constitution, freedom, and democracy, has become one of the most divisive and destructive forces in America. We feel they have become biased, isolated, extreme, and corrupt. We do not trust them to protect the 2024 election.
I am encouraging postcards because the emails we send, and petitions we sign just vanish into cyberspace and are never heard about again. Letters and postcards can be like snowflakes, a strange, noticeable nuisance that attracts attention.
Please, if you send the court a letter or a card, let me know. When it reaches a critical mass I will enlist everyone to get the press and TV to pay attention to our movement. I will be doing what I can from the small platform I have. Many of you know more people and might have more influence.
Remember what Arlo Guthrie taught us a long time ago. Paraphrasing his famous Thanksgiving song:
You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and
It won’t matter.
If two people, two people send postcards,
They may think they're both strange and it won't help
And if three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people sending postcards of concern to the Supreme Court,
.They may think it's an Organization.
And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said
Fifty people a day mailing letters and postcards to the Honorable John Roberts?
Friends, they may think it's a movement.
And that's what it would be, the “We Deserve An Honest and Lawful Supreme Court Movement —
If it would help, you could play all the chords on the guitar yourself and keep The Movement going:
C, A7, D7, G7, C7, F, F#dim
Repeat, over and over until the walls fall down and the truth emerges.
A government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Would you, perchance, provide the mailing address for justices of the supreme court? I'd be happy to send a few polite but pithy postcards to those justices who don't seem to believe in Stare Decisis and don't seem to be beholden to their testimony as candidates for appointment in their judicial behavior.
I have completed the three letters. I doubt that Clarence Thomas will give any thought to retiring. He is too greedy, where else could he make $278,0000 per year, plus full benefits and expenses, AND have "friends" who buy him expensive stuff, give him grandiose vacations, plus help out with supporting his extended family?
