You've never been alone. I have to control my urge to foam at the mouth and bite something....

"How art thou fallen, Lucifer!"

Conan Barrett has been a bit of a pleasant surprise however. Roberts a disappointment. The other males just so corrupt and hubristic and unAmerican as to merit no comment. I blame Mitch mostly.

PS Thanks for the great listing of the cases! Most useful!

(Marcia Coyle (?) in her book on the Roberts Court early on forecast this direction. Good book.)

Now, they don't even try to look impartial. Judge Cannon, probably after consulting with Thomas, just announced that she is in for Trump all the way, making sure she takes every one of his ridiculous motions very seriously -- at least until the middle of November.

Wow. Thank you for this very helpful summary of the horror that has unfolded at the Supreme Court. Unfortunately I’ve been trying to eat my lunch while reading it. That was a mistake. But I feel such a sense of urgency to save democracy. Glad so many of us on this platform are engaged in the fight.

Great details and I have shared this article with all of my voting children and friends so as to make them see why I scream about this SCOTUS!

I am away now, on vacation in France and therefore not keeping up with all the news. However, I have enjoyed your articles since subscribing to your Substack and find this one keenly on point. I don’t know whether 250,000 angry, protesting, marching Americans (young or otherwise) would make any difference whatsoever to the Supremes. Their arrogance in putting their ideology ahead of the Constitution and way way above and beyond what’s best for the American people is breathtaking - even when I am away. This has been a relatively expensive vacation, but if protests were organized in our country’s capital, I would pay whatever it takes to get there. Something’s gotta give…

Thank you, Old Man, you and I seem to be on the same track. I posted an article on the same, very serious problem early this morning. The way we select Federal Judges at all levels is bad for the law, bad for the people, bad for the United States of America. And nowhere in the Constitution, including Article 3, that sets up the Judiciary Branch does the Constitution even hint at the qualifications or appointment of Justices, and the only thing it says about tenure is they serve during "good behavior" This current crop of male justices are so far outside the normal definition of "good behavior" it would be laughable, if it weren't so harmful. Going forward, it we want to save our democracy we need two major things: A Universal Code of Ethics for ALL Public servants whether appointed, elected, or employed. And we need to change the way all Federal Justices are selected and appointed. First they should have law degrees, second they should be persons of high ethical behavior, and third they should know and support (or uphold if you prefer) the Constitution as it is written - not as they wish it were. No seances with two hundred year dead white men, no ouija boards.
